BlahBoop privacy policy
Effective 14 October 2026 ยท Terms of use
In short: BlahBoop has no accounts and does not collect your personal data. Everything you enter stays on your phone.
What stays on your phone
This information is saved only in the app's storage on your device. We cannot see it, and it is not sent to us or to anyone else. Your phone's own backup (Android backup to your Google account, or iCloud on an iPhone) may include it, including the names and numbers in "Your people", under your phone provider's terms, so your progress can move to a new phone. You can turn this off in your phone's backup settings.
- Your choices (place, mood, time), interests, learning languages, life stage and body settings.
- Your XP, stickers, treats, little jobs, weekly goals, favourites and which cards you have seen, done or skipped.
- "Your people": names and phone numbers you add. They are only used to open your phone's dialler or WhatsApp when you tap Call or WhatsApp. BlahBoop never calls or messages anyone by itself.
When the app uses the internet
Almost all cards are built into the app and work offline. Two features use the internet:
- "On this day" cards load a short list of events for today's date from Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation).
- Watch cards play YouTube videos in YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com) and show their thumbnails. Videos are streamed, never stored by the app.
When this happens, those services receive the usual technical information any website receives, such as your IP address, under their own privacy policies: Wikimedia (foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Policy:Privacy_policy) and Google/YouTube (policies.google.com/privacy). Apart from that technical information, BlahBoop sends them nothing about you: not your name, choices, people or progress. By playing a video you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service (youtube.com/t/terms). Fonts and everything else are inside the app.
Voice
Read-aloud and the voice guide use your phone's built-in text-to-speech. BlahBoop does not record or listen to you.
No ads, no tracking, no selling
BlahBoop shows no advertising, uses no analytics or tracking tools, and never sells or shares your data.
Reporting a mistake
If you tap "Spot a mistake? Tell us", your own email app opens a message to us. We only receive what you choose to send, and use it only to fix the card.
Deleting your data
Open the Me tab, then Your data, then Reset my data. Uninstalling the app also removes everything it stored.
Who BlahBoop is for
BlahBoop is a general free-time app for adults and teenagers aged 13 and over. It is not designed for young children, although many cards are family friendly.
Your rights
Because your data stays on your phone and never reaches us, you are fully in control: you can see and change it in the app, and erase it at any time (Me, then Your data). We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to correct, export or delete. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and the GDPR for users in the EU or UK, you can still write to us with any question or complaint, and we will reply within 15 days.
Children
BlahBoop does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone of any age, because it collects none at all. Under-18s should use it with a parent or guardian's knowledge.
